CCHS and MCHS tennis teams meet

Central Catholic and Morgan City met on the tennis courts April 1.
In singles’ action, Central Catholic’s Zach Osburn defeated Jude Johnson 8-1, while the Eagles’ Gavin Wisdom defeated Morgan City’s Mason Rutledge 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Sal Grizzaffi and Gage Theriot topped Morgan City’s Jude Johnson and Elijah Franklin, 8-2, while Connor Hebert and Quinlan Duffy defeated Morgan City’s Andre Steckler and Luke Matherne, 8-6.
In girls’ singles action, Central Catholic’s Emma Thomas defeated Morgan City’s Harleigh Price 7-5, 6-2, while Morgan City’s Krystina Pitre defeated Kerrylyn Luc 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles’ action, Central Catholic’s Jaclyn Garber and Kate Patterson defeated Savannah Loupe and Jamie Scioneaux 2-6, 6-1, 6-1, while Central Catholic’s Jessica Landry and Brooke Picou topped Amber Colbert and Emily Lacoste 6-2 and 6-4. Also in doubles’ play, Lynze Belle and Lindsee Case of Central Catholic beat Caylee Deshotel and Katelyn Gautreaux 6-2, 6-3, while Morgan City’s Faith Crappel and Mary Cronier defeated Sarah Price and Caroline Green 8-4.
Berwick, MCHS split
Morgan City defeated Berwick girls 3-2, while Berwick’s boys topped Morgan City 4-1 in tennis action March 28.
While Morgan City took the singles’ matches 2-0, Berwick won the doubles’ contests 2-1.
In singles’ action, Morgan City’s Harleigh Price defeated Allis Armato 6-0, 6-0, while Krystina Pitre defeated Berwick’s Jeanne Marie Hidalgo, 6-4, 7-5 with a third-set tiebreaker of 10-6.
In doubles’ action, Berwick’s Signe Parsiola and Emma Gray beat Morgan City’s Amber Colbert and Jamie Scioneaux 6-3, 6-3, while Berwick’s Abigail Askew and Olivia Orlando beat Katelyn Gautreaux and Emily LaCoste, 6-1, 6-3.
Morgan City’s Savannah Loupe and Eliannys Cabrera defeated Berwick’s Mary Margaret Sanford and Claire Parsiola 6-4, 6-2 and an 11-9 tiebreaker.
In other doubles’ action, Berwick’s Maggie Martin and Hannah Walker defeated Morgan City’s Mary Cronier and Cayle Deshotel 8-5.
In boys’ action, Berwick’s Nate Furlette defeated Morgan City’s Elijah Franklin 6-2, 6-1, while the Panther’s Riley Credeur was beating Jude Johnson 7-6, (7-5), 2-0 in a match halted by rain.
In doubles’ action, Morgan City’s Jude Johnson and Elijah Franklin beat Geisler Ibert and Drew Landry, 6-0, 6-0, while Austin DeHart and Andre Adams defeated Morgan City’s Andre Steckler and Johnny Ha 2-6, 6-2 and a tiebreaker of 10-8.
Parker Felterman and Levi Porter also defeated Morgan City’s Luke Matherne and Omar Ledezma 6-4, 6-4.
