Cecilia rallies to top Patterson
Cecilia rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Patterson, 3-2, Tuesday.
Patterson had scored a run in the top of the first and another in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the frame, Jensen said Cecilia connected on three “clutch” two out hits in a row.
“This one stings,” Patterson head coach Ryan Jensen said. “Sirbatian (Charles) was great today. It was his best outing of the season, and if he can give us that every time he takes the mound, we will have a great deal of success. I hate to see him lose today, (because) he gave us a great opportunity to win.”
Charles suffered the loss for Patterson. In 6.2 innings, he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Patterson had just five hits in the contest.
“We had a couple instances of poor execution offensively that maybe could have helped us to increase our lead, but we just didn’t get it done,” Jensen said. “You have to tip your cap to Cecilia. Their pitcher really held us in check.”
Patterson’s Lukas Carnley finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Tyrik Singleton was 1-for-3 with a double to lead Patterson’s offense.
Wednesday’s loss, which snapped a four-game winning streak for the Lumberjacks, was their fourth one-run loss this season.
“We have to figure out a way to get over the hump and turn those into wins,” Jensen said.
Patterson (8-8) will return to action Monday when it hosts South Terrebonne in a 6 p.m. contest.
