CCHS defeats Vermilion Catholic

Central Catholic High School outscored Vermilion Catholic in every quarter except the third en route to a 55-48 victory in District 7-1A action in Abbeville Monday.
Central Catholic led 16-10 after a quarter and 33-19 at the half.
Vermilion Catholic closed its gap to 41-34 after three quarters and each team scored 14 in the fourth quarter.
Jalen Johnson led three Central Catholic Eagles in double figures with 19 points. Elijah Swan scored 16 and Tanner Wiggins, 11 for the Eagles’ other two players in double figures.
Other Central Catholic scorers included Brooks Thomas, five; and Seth Williams and Blake Byrne, two each.
Central Catholic (8-12 overall, 6-4 in district) will return to action Thursday when it faces White Castle in a 6 p.m. nondistrict game.
Berwick beats Kaplan
Berwick High School defeated Kaplan, 50-36, in District 8-3A action on the road Monday.
Donald Tillman led Berwick with 11 points, Audwin Williams added 10, Larenz Clark and Collin Louviere, nine each; Cody Roberie, seven; Silton Span, five; and Tysin Meads, four.
Berwick (17-12, 6-4) won’t return to action until Tuesday when it travels to face E.D. White in District 8-3A action.
