CCHS falls to Ascension Episcopal

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles fell to Ascension Episcopal 32-15 in District 7-1A girls’ hoops action Tuesday.
While Central Catholic trailed just 7-5 after the first quarter, the Lady Eagles went scoreless during the next two periods, trailing 15-5 at halftime and 25-5 after three quarters.
Central Catholic outscored Ascension Episcopal 10-7 in the fourth period for the final.
Taylor Picou led Central Catholic with seven points and recorded two steals and six rebounds.
Other top contributors included Hallie Autin, six points and three rebounds; Sydney Williams, 10 rebounds and two steals; Mary-Beth Blanchard, one point and one steal; and Hanna McCue, one point and one rebound.
Central Catholic will close its season Friday when it travels to face Lafayette Christian in District 7-1A action. The girls’ game will begin at 6 p.m.
Morgan City defeats
South Terrebonne
The Morgan City Lady Tigers closed out their District 7-4A schedule with a 57-41 victory against South Terrebonne.
Laqwaijha Bourgeois led Morgan City with 28 points, while Casey Chenevert also reached double figures with 12 points.
Other scorers for the Lady Tigers included Alisha Singleton, nine; Steveyion Walker, three; and Meya Morse and Nakerial Bourgeois with two points each.
Patterson falls
to Donaldsonville
The Patterson Lumberjills dropped a District 9-3A contest to Donaldsonville 49-41 Tuesday on the road.
While Patterson trailed 12-9 after the first quarter, the Lumberjills took a 21-18 lead into halftime after outscoring Donaldsonville 12-6 in the second period.
Donaldsonville led 33-31 heading into the final period before outscoring Patterson 16-5 in the fourth for the win.
Makayla Ruiz and Jazmin Evans led Patterson with eight points apiece, while Alex Benjamin and Nakia Brooks each scored seven.
Other scorers for Patterson included Gaylen Grogan, five points; Erykah Singleton, four; and Nyla Holder, two points.
Patterson (15-12, 3-4) will conclude the regular season Friday when it travels to face E.D. White in District 9-3A action.
