We played great in spurts but had some let downs as well.

Central Catholic snapped a five-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 48-42 win against South Lafourche in the Eagles’ final game of E.D. White’s Cane’s Cardinal Classic Monday.
While Central Catholic trailed 14-5 after the first quarter, 21-19 at halftime, and 29-28 after three quarters, back-to-back 3-pointers, one by Stefano Guarisco to tie the game late in the fourth quarter and another by Tyler Hoffpauir, gave the Eagles’ their first lead of the game.

Hoffpauir led the Eagles with 21 points, while Guarisco scored 11.
The Eagles (5-7) will return to action today when they travel to face Ascension Catholic. Junior varsity action will begin at 5 p.m. and following the girls’ varsity contest, the boys’ varsity game will play at approximately 7 p.m.
Patterson
tops Jeanerette
Patterson concluded a stretch of five games in five days with a 72-57 win against Jeanerette Monday.
While Patterson coach Ryan Taylor said he was happy with where his program is headed this season, he said they need more consistency and need to play better, even when fatigued.
“We were up and down the whole game,” Taylor said. “We played great in spurts but had some let downs as well.”
While Patterson led 23-5 after the first quarter, they let Jeanerette gain some ground in the second period as the Lumberjacks were outscored 24-15 and headed into halftime leading 38-29.
However, Patterson regained some ground in the third quarter with an 18-11 scoring advantage for a 56-40 lead after three quarters.
Dontrell Benjamin led the Lumberjacks with 16 points, while Jedrick Gunner and Nehemiah Augustus each scored nine; Kenneth Washington and Larry Turner each had eight; Taylan Grogan, seven; Daylon Charlot, six; D.J. Jones, five; and Malik Garrett, four.
Patterson (7-1) will hit the court again Friday when it hosts Assumption. Junior varsity action is set for a 5:30 p.m. start with varsity play to follow.
