CCHS tops Patterson, 4-1

Central Catholic defeated Patterson, 4-1, in baseball action in Amelia Tuesday.
The Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 4-0 advantage.
Patterson scored its lone run in the top of the sixth.
Samuel Guarisco led Central Catholic with a 1-for-2 performance with an RBI and a run, while Thomas Garber recorded two RBIs.
Patterson’s Jamey Fabre finished 1-for-3 in the loss.
Patterson left eight runners on base, while Central Catholic stranded six.
Central Catholic used five pitchers who combined for eight walks and six strikeouts.
Greg Leger earned the win. In two innings, he surrendered two walks.
Patterson’s Sirbatian Charles suffered the loss. In three innings, he surrendered two unearned runs on one hit with three walks.
Patterson (5-5) will return to action this weekend when it participates in South Beauregard’s tournament. Patterson will play DeRidder Friday at 5:30 p.m. at DeRidder, while on Saturday, it will face Rosepine at 1:15 p.m. and South Beauregard at 3:30 p.m., both at South Beauregard.
Central Catholic (7-1) will participate in Ascension Catholic’s tournament. The Eagles will face Brusly today, who comes into the game with a 16-0 mark, including a 4-1 victory against Central Catholic earlier this season.
St. Amant
edges Berwick
St. Amant defeated Berwick, 3-2, at Berwick Tuesday.
The Gators scored all three of their runs in the top of the third inning.
Berwick countered with a run in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fifth but could get no closer.
The teams combined for just nine hits, with St. Amant outhitting Berwick 5-4.
Nick Mayon suffered the loss for Berwick. He surrendered three earned runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Cameron Wiley led Berwick with a 2-for-3 performance with a double and an RBI.
Berwick (5-9) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in Lutcher’s tournament with a 4 p.m. contest against Lutcher.
