CCHS tops Teurlings

Central Catholic opened its season with a close victory against Teurlings Catholic, 66-63, Tuesday.
The Eagles led 13-9 after the first quarter, while Teurlings trimmed the Eagles’ lead to 27-26 at the half.
While Central Catholic got a little cushion in the third quarter following a 19-15 scoring output for a 46-41 lead, Teurlings tightened things up at the end.
Nick Case led Central Catholic with 24 points, while Tyler Hoffpauir added 15. Other top contributors included Jalen Johnson, Samarick Paul and Stefano Guarisco with 9 each.
In junior varsity action, Teurlings defeated Central Catholic, 34-21.
Blake Byrne led the Eagles with 7 points.
Central Catholic will return to action this week when it participates in Episcopal of Baton Rouge’s tournament.
Berwick falls to Hanson
Hanson defeated Berwick 52-47 in Franklin Tuesday.
No individual statistics were available.
Berwick (5-4) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Ascension Episcopal. Junior varsity action will begin at 5:15 p.m., with varsity action to follow the girls’ game at 7:15 p.m.
