CCHS wins tourney opener

Central Catholic dominated Terrebonne for a 62-39 win in opening day action at Central Catholic’s Lady Eagle Christmas Classic.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and extended its lead to 33-11 at the half and 56-22 after three quarters.
Terrebonne outscored Central Catholic 17-6 in the final period.
Randi Brown led the Lady Eagles with a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds as well as six assists, four blocks and three steals, while Meo Knight had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block.
Other top contributors included Megan Landry, 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal; Hallie Autin, two points, one steal and four rebounds; Mary-Beth Blanchard, three points; and Hanna McCue, two points and one rebound.
Central Catholic will return to action today with two games in its classic. The Lady Eagles will face Westgate at 4 p.m. and Patterson at 7 p.m.
Patterson drops two at
Lady Eagle Classic
The Patterson Lumberjacks fell twice at Central Catholic’s tournament as Ellender defeated Patterson 65-17, while Westgate defeated Patterson 56-49.
Against Ellender, the Lumberjills trailed 15-6 after one quarter, 35-12 at the half and 53-16 after three quarters.
Grogan led the Lumberjills with six points, while Alex Benjamin and Jamiri Brown each scored three; Nakia Brooks and Erykah Singleton each had two; and Makayla Ruiz had a point.
In the loss to Westgate, Brooks led Patterson with 11 points, while Benjamin scored 10; Jazmin Evans and Grogan each scored eight; Singleton six; Ruiz, four; and Brown, two.
Patterson will play Central Catholic today at 7 p.m., while on Saturday, the Lumberjills will face Terrebonne at 2:30 p.m.
In other tournament action this weekend, Terrebonne will play Ellender at 5:30 p.m. today and Westgate will face Ellender Saturday at 1 p.m.
