Centerville Bulldogs defeat MLK Charter

NEW ORLEANS _ The Centerville Bulldogs led wire to wire defeating MLK Charter 66-53 in New Orleans to tie for the District 8-B title. Both teams will square off at a neutral site next week for the district championship.
Marvin Strawder led the Bulldogs’ charge with 19 points. Cole Candella added a career-high 16 points with eight rebounds and three defensive charges. Jaylon Williams also chipped in with 16 points to help the Bulldogs win their sixth game out of their last 7 games after starting the season 0-13.
Centerville jumped outfront by a 13-7 lead in the first quarter before securing a 34-21 advantage at intermission. Centerville outpointed MLK 34-32 in the second half for the 66-53 league victory.
Marvin Strawder led the Bulldogs with 19 points on three treys, four deuces and 2 of 4 free throws.
Cole Candella poured in his 16 points five floor shots and 6 of 10 freebies.
Jaylon Williams drained 15 points on four field goals and 7 of 8 charity shots.
Lance Howard finished with six points while Rodrick Harris tallied four points. Desmond Monette, Christian Arias and Cameron Pogue all tossed in two points apiece.
