Centerville storms past Highland Baptist 85-38

CENTERVILLE _ Centerville stormed past Highland Baptist 85-38 in the District 7-1A regular season finale at the Centerville High School Gym.
Centerville finished the regular season 19-6 overall and 11-3 in 7-1A.
Highland Baptist finishes the regular season 0-17 and 0-14 in 7-1A.
The Bulldogs asserted themselves early, building a 35-6 cushion at the end of the first quarter. CHS benefited from a 25-10 flurry in the second quarter for an insurmountable 60-16 en route to the 85-38 victory.
Highland Baptist’s top scorers included: Mikel Espinoza, 7-2’s, 1-3, 1 of 3 FTs, 18 points; Alex Miller, 3-2’s, 2-3’s, 0-3 FTs, 12 points; Jordan Dugas, 3-2’s, 6 points and Landon Jordan, 1-2, 0-1 FTs, 2 points.
Centerville’s top shooters were Deandre Kinchen, Lance Howard and Jaylon Williams all who finished in double digits..
Kinchen led the way with 20 points on 7-2’s and 2-3’s.
Lance Howard pumped in 19 points on 8-2’s and 3 of 3 FTs.
Jaylon Williams struck for 19 points on 4-2’s, 3-3’s and 2 of 2 FTs.
Collin Deslatte scored 9 points on 1-2, 2-3’s and 1 of 2 FTs.
Landon Lanclos made good on a pair of trey for six points while Tykeith Joseph bagged six points on two field goals with Ryan Young hitting on a trey for 3 points and Carver Severson also connecting on a trey for 3 points to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
On the night, Centerville made good on 6 of 8 FTs while committing 11 fouls.
