Centerville tops Delcambre

LEROY _ Centerville split a pair of wins in the annual North Vermilion Tournament here Monday and Tuesday.
The Iota Bulldogs nipped the Centerville Bulldogs 52-49 Monday in the opening round of the tournament.
Iota’s leader scorers were: Colby Wilson, 17; Chase Doucet, 12; Jeron Latiolais, 11, Dylan Hebert, 10 and Conner Story, 2.
Centerville’s leading scorers were: Marvin Strawder, 15; Desmond Monette, 14; Lance Howard, 10; Cole Candella, 4, Karl Young, 2; Marquis Strawder, 2 and Jayvien Thomas, 2.
In Tuesday’s second round of the North Vermilion Tournament, the Centerville Bulldogs stormed past the Delcambre Panthers, 80-44.
Centerville opened with a 24-4 first quarter run and never looked back. The Bulldogs rolled to a 33-17 lead at the half. In the second half, the Bulldogs cruised to an easy 80-44 triumph thanks to a 37-27 flurry.
Lance Howard led the Bulldogs with 21 points while Marvin Strawder contributed 13 points.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Desmond Monette, 9; Marquis Strawder, 9; Karl Young, 7; Jayvien Thomas, 7; Cole Candella, 5; Ryan Young, 5; Collin Deslatte, 3 and Andrew Johnson, 2.
Delcambre’s top scorer was Lane Broussard with 11 point.
Centerville (3-5) will travel to Gueydan on Tuesday to begin district play.
