Central Catholic finishes the weekend 2-0

Central Catholic finished 2-0 this weekend at the Tri-City Baseball Classic, topping Berwick Friday before run-ruling Bunkie Saturday.
On Friday, Central Catholic defeated Berwick, 8-2.
Blake Hidalgo earned the win as he surrendered two hits in six innings, walked four, and struck out five.
Central Catholic never trailed, plating a run in the first, four in the third and three in the sixth for an 8-0 lead.
Berwick plated its two runs in its final at bat.
Berwick committed four errors, while Central Catholic had three miscues.
Samuel Guarisco led Central Catholic with a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Other top contributors included Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-4, two RBIs; Patrick Barron, 1-for-3, two RBIs; and Gregory Leger, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run.
On Saturday against Bunkie, Central Catholic won 13-0.
The Eagles scored all of their runs in the first three innings, plating one in the first, seven in the second and five in the third.
Adam Dupuis finished 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases, while Hidalgo was 1-for-1 with a triple and three RBIs. Other top contributors included Leger, 1-for-1, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base; Lemoine, 1-for-2, two RBIs and two runs; Stefano Guarisco, 1-for-2, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base; Barron, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; and Samuel Guarisco, an RBI.
Charlie Solar earned the win for the Eagles. In four innings, he surrendered four hits, walked two and fanned five.
In an inning of relief, Barron fanned three.
Central Catholic (3-0) will return to action today when it travels to face Brusly in a 6 p.m. contest.
Patterson finishes 1-2
The Patterson Lumberjacks finished 1-2 this weekend at the Tri-City Baseball Classic, defeating McKinley but falling to New Iberia and Thibodaux.
On Friday, the squad fell to New Iberia, 6-5.
While Patterson took as much as a 5-1 lead after four innings, New Iberia rallied during the last three innings, plating two runs in the fifth and three in the seventh.
Sirbatian Charles suffered the loss in relief. In one inning, he surrendered two earned runs on three hits with one walk.
Starter Joel Singleton received a no-decision. In six innings, he surrendered four earned runs on six hits with one walk and fanned six.
Offensively, Bryce Beaubouef led Patterson with a 2-for-4 performance with a home run, an RBI and two runs. Other top offensive contributors included Blake Dreyer, 2-for-3, a double and a run; Singleton, 2-for-4, a double; Jamey Fabre, 2-for-4; Matt Dardeau, 1-for-3, a double and two runs; and Christian Soria, an RBI.
On Saturday, Patterson defeated McKinley, 15-0, in three innings.
Patterson erupted for 13 runs in the second inning and scored two in the third before the game was called.
Tyrik Singleton earned the win as he tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in three innings of work.
Offensively, Bryce Beaubouef finished 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base, while Brad Beaubouef was 1-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs. Other top contributors included Hector Tolento, 1-for-2, a double, three RBIs and a run; Tyrik Singleton, 1-for-3, two RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases; Joel Singleton, 1-for-3, two RBIs; and Jaylon Jennings and Noah Bryant, each an RBI.
Later Saturday, Patterson fell to Thibodaux, 8-3.
Patterson trailed the whole contest, getting as close as 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
However, Thibodaux responded with three in the top of the fifth for a 5-1 advantage en route to the win.
Charles suffered the loss for Patterson. In five innings, he surrendered five runs — two earned — on seven hits with two walks and fanned six.
Offensively, Fabre led the squad with a 1-for-1 performance with an RBI and a run, while Joel Singleton had an RBI.
Patterson (1-2) will return to action today when it takes on St. Augustin at Nicholls State in Thibodaux in a 5 p.m. contest.
Morgan City
finishes 1-1
Morgan City finished the weekend 1-1 at the Tri-City Baseball Classic, falling victim to a run-rule to E.D. White and run-ruling Marksville.
On Friday, Morgan City fell to E.D. White, 10-0, in five innings.
E.D. White was a Class 3A quarterfinalist in 2015.
Morquisse Charles suffered the loss for Morgan City. In four innings, he surrendered eight runs — six earned — on six hits with four walks and fanned two.
Offensively, Abram Hartley led Morgan City with a 2-for-2 performance.
On Saturday against Marksville, the Tigers won 14-2 in five innings.
Hartley led Morgan City with a 4-for-4 performance with a double, two RBIs, three runs and a stolen base. Other top hitters included Evan Stadalis, 2-for-3, a double, three RBIs, three runs and a stolen base; Philip Hutchinson, 2-for-4, two RBIs, two runs and a stolen base; Caleb Landry, 1-for-2, two RBIs; Joshua Lorenzo, 1-for-3, two RBIs; Logan Gros, 1-for-2, a double and two runs; and Charles, 1-for-3, a double and a run.
Joseph Doiron earned the win for Morgan City. In three innings, he surrendered two earned runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
In two innings of relief, Colby Glatter surrendered a hit, a walk and fanned one.
Morgan City (1-2) will return to action today when it travels to face Terrebonne in a 6 p.m. contest.
Berwick finishes 0-2
Berwick finished the weekend 0-2 at the Tri-City Baseball Classic, falling to Central Catholic Friday and Central Lafourche Saturday.
On Friday, Berwick fell 8-2 to Central Catholic.
The Panthers fell behind 8-0, scoring their two runs in their last at bat.
Berwick used six pitchers in the contest with Bradley Gray suffering the loss. In 2.2 innings, he surrendered five runs — one earned — on one hit with three walks and two strikeouts.
Errors were a problem for the Panthers as they committed five, and just three of Central Catholic’s runs were earned.
Offensively, the squad was limited to four hits, led by Ty Duthu’s 1-for-4 performance with an RBI.
On Saturday, Berwick fell to Central Lafourche, 18-13, in eight innings.
Berwick exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the first to take a 7-0 lead, but Central Lafourche quickly clawed their way back into the game. The Trojans scored four runs in the second, one in the third and three in the fourth for an 8-7 lead.
The teams exchanged the lead for much of the next three innings as Berwick took a 9-8 lead after five, with Berwick forcing extra innings by plating two runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score at 13.
However, the Trojans scored five runs in the top of the eighth for the victory.
The teams combined for 32 hits (18 for Central Lafourche and 14 for Berwick), while Berwick committed five errors.
Berwick used seven pitchers in the contest with Andrew Askew suffering the loss.
Cameron Wiley finished 3-for-4 with a double, while Logan Angeron was 3-for-5. Other top contributors included Cody Roberie and D.J. Robicheaux, each 2-for-4; and Gray and Duthu, each 1-for-4 with a double.
