Central Catholic run-ruled Ascension Episcopal 16-0 in three innings in District 7-1A action in Bayou Vista Thursday.
Central Catholic scored 14 runs in the first inning and two more in the second inning.
Megan Landry tossed a one-hitter in the win. In three innings, she fanned six.
Offensively, the Lady Eagles had three hits.
Taylor Picou finished 1-for-1 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Lady Eagles, while Brittany Longman was 1-for-1 with an RBI and three runs and Kaitlyn Gros, 1-for-2 with two RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs.
Central Catholic (20-3 overall, 10-1 in district) will return to action Monday when it faces Berwick in a 5 p.m. nondistrict contest.
Morgan City falls
to Assumption
Assumption clinched the District 7-4A title with a 5-2 victory against Morgan City Thursday.
Assumption never trailed as the Lady Mustangs took a 1-0 lead after an inning and extended its lead to 4-0 after three and 5-0 after four.
Morgan City scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Assumption outhit Morgan City 6-4, while both teams committed three errors.
Tyler Hebert suffered the loss for Morgan City. In six innings, she surrendered five runs — three earned — on six hits with one walk and fanned four.
Offensively, she led Morgan City with a 1-for-4 performance with an RBI.
Morgan City (14-8, 5-2) will return to action Saturday when it hosts St. Joseph’s Academy in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 10:30 a.m.
