Central Catholic to travel to face Ascension Episcopal

Central Catholic will hit the road for volleyball playoff action today when it travels to face Ascension Episcopal in Youngsville.
Central Catholic enters the game seeded No. 14 in the Division V postseason bracket, while Ascension Episcopal is the No. 3 seed.
A year ago, the two teams met in the quarterfinals at the Pontchartrain Center with the Blue Gators coming out on top, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 28-26) on its way to a state runner-up finish to Metairie Park Country Day.
Ascension Episcopal (26-10) received a first-round bye as a top eight seed.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic defeated Ascension Christian 3-1 (27-25, 19-25, 25-13, 25-15) in first-round action.
The Blue Gators have won four straight with their last loss coming on Oct. 19 to Parkview Baptist 3-2 (26-28, 25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 6-15). Parkview Baptist is the No. 8 seed in Division III.
The Blue Gators’ schedule has featured a plethora of quality volleyball teams across the state.
Central Catholic will be looking to pull an upset in the second round for the second straight year as the squad traveled as a No. 10 seed to No. 7 Ascension Catholic a year ago and pulled off the upset in four games.
They also will be looking to continue what has become an annual trip to the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner for the state volleyball tournament.
Today’s game will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Ascension Episcopal.
