Charlot competes in 3A meet

Patterson High School’s Daylon Charlot finished sixth in the long jump at the Class 3A State Track and Field Meet at LSU’s Bernie Moore Track Stadium Saturday.
Charlot jumped 21 feet, 4.25 inches.
The Patterson High multi-sport athlete, who has verbally committed to play football at the University of Alabama, began long jumping a month ago and advanced through district and regional action to qualify for Saturday’s meet.
He was Patterson’s lone competitor and earned Patterson a point at the meet. The Lumberjacks finished tied for 31st in team scoring. John Curtis won the Class 3A state title with 93 points.
In the long jump, Lusher Charter’s Willie Reed earned the title with a leap of 24 feet, 3.75 inches.
Patterson track and field coach Mark Millet could not be reached for comment today on Charlot’s performance.
