Donaldsonville earns district win over FSHS

Donaldsonville’s Lady Tigers notched a 61-49 District 9-3A win over the Franklin Lady Hornets Friday at the FSHS Gym.
Franklin and Donaldsonville played to an 11-11 knot at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Tigers used a 14-8 run in the second quarter to grab a 25-19 halftime cushion. DHS led by a 44-35 margin at the end of the third stanza before strolling away with the 61-49 win.
Leading scorers for Franklin were:: Quanta Jones, 15 points, 5 deuces, one trey, 2 free throws; Kaira Butler, 10 points, 5 field goals; Wynesha Jenkins, 8 points, 4 field goals; Chardonnae Parker, 6 points, 1 3-point field goal and 3 of 4 free throws; Fabian Small, 5 points, 2 field goals and 1 of 6 free throws; Mai Francis, 5 points, one trey and one deuce.
Franklin will play host to Patterson on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m.
