Frank’s Agency beats Robicheaux Ford; snaps losing streak
Since winning their first contest of the season against the Braves (H.L. Bourgeois), Frank’s Agency (Patterson High) has fallen on tough times, dropping eight consecutive contests.
Tuesday night, the squad had reason to smile as it defeated Vandebilt Catholic-based Robicheaux Ford, 1-0.
Frank’s Agency scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the second.
Sirbatian Charles earned the complete-game victory.
Offensively, Jake Lagrange, Joel Singleton and Lukas Carnley each collected a hit for Frank’s Agency.
Frank’s Agency (2-8) will return to action today when it hosts Halimar Shipyard. The two teams originally were scheduled to play Monday evening, but that contest was rained out. Today’s games will begin with junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Taco Bell edges LaShip
Berwick High-based Taco Bell rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the eventual game-winning runs in a 7-6 win against LaShip Tuesday in Berwick.
Trailing 6-5 heading into its sixth-inning at bat, Taco Bell plated two runs in the frame.
It kept LaShip off the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning.
“We got behind early, but the team competed and came away with the win,” Taco Bell coach Mike Thomas said.
LaShip took the lead initially with a 2-1 advantage after an inning and 5-3 after two innings.
Taco Bell cut the deficit to 5-4 after three innings, and each team plated a run in the fourth inning for a 6-5 LaShip lead.
Taco Bell outhit LaShip 8-7.
Neal Theriot Jr. led Taco Bell with a 3-for-3 performance with an RBI, while Bradley Gray was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Other contributors for Taco Bell included Nick Mayon, 1-for-1 with two RBIs; Andrew Askew, 1-for-2; and Justin Morvant, 1-for-4.
Austin Price earned the win for Taco Bell in relief. He pitched 3.2 innings and surrendered two hits, three walks, hit one batter and struck out one.
Nick Mayon started for the Panthers, and in 3.1 innings, he surrendered six runs — four earned — on five hits with three walks.
Taco Bell (6-3) will return to action today when it travels to face H.L. Bourgeois. Junior varsity action is set for 3:30 p.m. with varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m.
That game was postponed Monday.
Halimar Shipyard
run-rules Synergy Bank
Central Catholic-based Halimar Shipyard started fast and didn’t let up much in a 14-2 run-rule victory against E.D. White-based Synergy Bank Tuesday in Thibodaux.
Halimar took an 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third after plating four runs in the first, three in the second and another in the top of the third.
While Synergy Bank scored two runs in the bottom of the third, Halimar came back with three runs in the top of the fourth and three more in the top of the sixth.
Halimar outhit Synergy Bank 12-5.
Synergy was plagued by four errors as eight of Halimar’s runs were unearned.
Both of Synergy Bank’s runs were unearned, too.
Offensively, T.J. Ruffin and Mitchell Lemoine led Halimar. Ruffin was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, while Lemoine was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs.
Other contributors for Halimar were Stefano Guarisco, 2-for-4, two RBIs, a stolen base and three runs; Patrick Barron, 1-for-4, two RBIs and a run; Matthew Barbier, 2-for-3, three runs; Samuel Guarisco, 1-for-4, two runs; Thomas Garber, 1-for-4, a run; Charlie Barron, two RBIs and a run; and Sage Thibodeaux and Tony Pennison, each an RBI.
Gregory Leger earned the complete-game victory for Halimar Shipyard. In six innings, he surrendered two unearned runs on five hits with one walk and fanned five.
Halimar Shipyard (7-2) will return to action today when it faces Frank’s Agency.
Skipper’s game rained out
Morgan City High-based Skipper’s Sporting Goods’ contest against Thibodaux High-based Reeco Rental and Supply Tuesday was postponed due to rain.
The game will be made up Saturday at 1 p.m.
The rainout was the second in as many days for Skipper’s, whose contest against Synergy Bank Monday also was rained out.
Skipper’s will play at Synergy Bank in Thibodaux Friday in a varsity-only contest at 5:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Skippers (5-2) will be in action today in Morgan City against the Mustangs (Assumption) in a makeup game from an earlier season contest. Junior varsity action will begin at 5 p.m. and varsity will follow at 7 p.m.
