Franklin Hornets defeat Hanson Tigers, 74-46

Kevin Ina and Dwonyelle Charles combined for 52 points, leading the Franklin Hornets to a 74-46 victory over the Hanson Memorial Tigers Tuesday at the Franklin High School Gymnasium.
Franklin seized control early, gaining a 5-3 lead when Ina bagged the first of his two treys on the night.
The entire game was played without the scoreboard which shut down during the fourth quarter of the girls contest.
With time being kept on the floor and the score being announced periodically, Franklin rallied from a 3-2 deficit when Hanson’s Josh Luke fired in a trey.
Ina, who poured in a game-high 31 points along with several nifty steals, bagged a long trey to give Franklin a 5-3 lead.
A short time later, Ina assisted Charles on a close range basket as Franklin secured a 10-3 lead of which it never relinquished.
Ina connected on his second trey to give the Hornets a 10-3 advantage before Hanson’s Kyler Clements answered with a short drive to close the gap at 10-5.
Franklin’s Dwonyell Charles made his presence felt with a long-range bomb, giving the Hornets a 13-5 advantage.
Hanson’s Brian Sonnier rallied the troops with six consecutive points as the Tigers sliced the Hornets lead to 13-11.
Ina made good on a steal and a layup, giving FSHS a 15-11 cushion.
Hanson’s Robert Camors connected on a free throw as the Tigers whittled the Hornets’ lead to 17-12 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Franklin extended its lead to 34-26 thanks to a 17-14 spurt.
Clements opened the second period with a trey, enabling the Tigers to trail the Hornets by a 17-15 margin.
Charles quickly scored from short range while Ina hit from long range to hand the Hornets a 22-15 advantage.
Franklin benefited from a 12-9 run the rest of the first half, securing a 34-27 lead at intermission.
In the second half, the Hornets outpointed the Tigers by a 40-19 margin on the way to the 74-46 victory.
Ina finished the night with a game-high 31 points while Charles added 21 points.
Ervin Collins pushed through seven points while Josh Parker contributed six points.
Tronyonte Clark tossed in four points with Jarius Boyd and Javon Welch scoring two points each.
Josh Luke, Clements and Camors led the way for the Tigers with 10 points each.
Franklin will return to action Thursday at home while Hanson will return to action next Wednesday in the annual Hanson Holiday Classic Tournament against Loreauville.
