Franklin Lady Hornets come away with a win in tourney
DELCAMBRE _ The Franklin Lady Hornets defeated the Comeaux Ldy Spartans 43-33 in the final game of the Lynette Viator Memorial Tournament here at the Delcambre High School Gym on Saturday.
Franklin gained the upper hand from the opening tip, building a 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. Franklin clung to a 19-18 lead at intermission.
The Lady Hornets rolled to a 26-20 lead at the end of the third quarter en route to the 43-33 victory.
Leading the Lady Hornets to their third straight victory were double-digit scorers Kaira Butler and Jazmine Byers. Butler led the way with 13 points on 5 field goals and 3 of 6 free throws.
Byers had 12 points on 5 floor shots and 2 of 2 charity shots while Sta’Trail Butler had 9 points on 3 deuces and one trey.
Kenyoda Cormier had seven points on one field goal and 5 of 6 free throws Ajontae McDaniel had 2 points on one floor shot.
Leading scorer for Comeaux was Olivia Scott with 22 points.
Next up for the Lady Hornets will be South Lafourche on Monday at home.
FRANKLIN 57, LOREAUVILLE 47
Delcambre _ Franklin defeated Loreaville 57-47 Thursday night in the Lynette Viator Memorial Tournament in Delcambre.
Leading scorers for the Lady Hornets were: Kaira Butler, 17 points, 7 FGS, 3-4 FTs; Jazmine Byers, 9 points, 2 FGs and 5 of 8 FTs; Kenya Cormier, 8 points, 1 FG and 6 of 8 FTs; StaTrail Butler, 5 points, 1 2-point FG and 1 3-point FG; Jazmin Brent, 4 points, 2 FGs and Aaliyah Smith and Alkia Robinson each had 2 points on a FG each.
