Franklin Lady Hornets earn 45-41 win over Kaplan

The Franklin Lady Hornets earned a 45-41 victory over the Kaplan Lady Pirates in District 8-3A here Tuesday at the FSHS Gymnasium.
Franklin rallied behind a 15-4 run in the third quarter.
The Lady Hornets trailed Kaplan by an 8-6 mark in the first quarter before Kaplan claimed a 24-22 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Franklin went on a 15-4 flurry, gaining a 37-28 cushion. Franklin posted the league with by a final score of 45-41 following an 8-3 run.
The Lady Hornets were led by senior Kenyoda Cormier with 11 points on 3 FGs, 1 3-pointer and 2 of 4 FTs. Jazmine Byers also had 11 points on 5 FGs and 1 of 1 FT.
Kaira Butler had 10 points on 5 FGs while Sta’Trail Butler had 9 points on 4 FGs and 1 of 3 FTs. Ajontae McDaniel had 2 points on 2 of 2 FTs, and Jazmin Brent had 2 points on 1 FG.
Kaplan’s high scorer was Rylie Frick with 23 points on 9 FGs and 5 of 6 FTs.
The Lady Hornets start the second round of district play on Tuesday, January 23rd at Patterson.
WEST ST. MARY 34, CATHOLIC HIGH 13
BALDWIN _ The West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack claimed a 34-13 over the Catholic High of New Iberia Lady Panthers in District 5-2A here Tues-day at the West St. Mary High School Gym.
The Lady Wolfpack took a 7-2 lead and never looked back in recording the league victory.
West St. Mary secured a 21-4 lead at the half.
West St. Mary benefited from a 9-7 edge in the third quar-ter on the way to the 34-13 triumph.
Italy Jack led the Lady Wolfpack in scoring with nine points on four field goals and 1 of 6 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Wolfpack were: Chyna Druilhet, 6; J. Tillman, 4; K. Declouet, 3; K. Perro, 3; T. Davis, 3 and A. Chillis, 1.
M. Bienvenu led Cath-olic High School with 9 points.
HANSON MEMORIAL 39, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 34
The Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers edged past the Central Catholic of Morgan City Lady Eagles, 39-34, in District 7-1A action Monday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Casey Fitzgerald poured in 14 points while Sarah Daniel added 10 to help propel the Lady Tigers.
Carlie Pellerin also scored eight points for the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers, who improved to 17-4 overall and 4-3 in District 7-1A.
Hanson Memorial will play host to Highland Baptist on Friday in District 7-1A action.
AES 37, CENTERVILLE 26
CENTERVILLE _ The Ascension Episcopal Lady Gators notched a 37-26 District 7-1A win over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs here Monday at the CHS Gym.
