Franklin Lady Hornets go 2-1in Holiday Classic

Franklin Lady Hornets went 2-1 in the 74th Annual Hanson Holiday Classic at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
In the opener, Franklin dropped a 39-44 loss to the Abbeville Lady Wildcats.
Leading scorers for Franklin were: Fabian Small 17 points on five field goals and 7-of-10 free throws; Wynesha Jenkins, 7 points on two deuces and one trey; Chardonnae Parker, 6 points on one field goals, one trey and 1-of-4 free throws. Quanta Jones, 5 points on 1 floor shot and 3-of-4 free throws and Kaira Butler with four points.
Franklin’s Lady Hornets rolled past the Berwick Lady Panthers 80-25.
Franklin stormed outfront by a 31-2 first quarter lead before enjoying a 42-12 advantage at the half. Franklin turned up the pressure in the third stanza, collecting a 70-20 bulge. Franklin put the game on ice with an 80-25 victory.
Leading scorers for Franklin were: Fabian Small, 22 points on 10 field goals and 2-of-4 free throws; Chardonnae Parker, 16 points on eight field goals; Kaira Butler, 12 points on six field goals; Quanta Jones, 12 points on six field goals; Mai Francis, 10 points on five floor shots; Ajontae McDaniel 6 points, and Samantha Frederick with 2 points.
Franklin earned a victory in the girls consolations after topping the Houma Christian Lady Warriors 59-45.
Franklin raced outfront by a 20-11 lead in the opening period. The Lady Hornets posted a 35-22 cushion at the half. Franklin extended its lead to 46-29 after three quarters before securing the 59-45 victory.

Fabian Small and Quanta Jones were named to the all-tournament team.
Franklin’s overall record is 10-10.
