FSHS fallls to Walker; CHS ups NC; HMS nips Delcambre

WALKER _ The Walker Chargers notched a 64-14 victory over the Franklin High Hornets here Friday in non-district action.
Walker (2-0) sailed outfront by a 57-6 lead in the first half and never looked back.
Franklin (0-2) will host the Jeanerette Tigers (0-2) on Friday at J. C. Dry Stadium in its season opener.

Bulldogs 38-14
CENTERVILLE _ The Centerville Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season following Friday’s 38-14 victory over the North Central Hurricanes here at Bulldog Stadium.
Centerville’s Caleb LeBlanc and Michael Bourgeois led the way for the Bulldogs, who are 2-0 on the season.
LeBlanc rushed 17 times for 160 yards and three touchdowns while Bourgeois scored on a pair of touchdowns.
Defensively, Cole Candella recorded nine tackles along with one interception and a fumble recovery.
“We are still making a lot of errors,” CHS Head Coach Anthony Hicks said. “I’m happy but we must cut down on the number of mental mistakes and penalties.”
Centerville (2-0) will travel to face Crescent City Baptist on Saturday at 7 p.m. at A. J. Muss Bertolino Park in Kenner.
Tigers 10-0
Defensive end Clint Young blocked a punt in the third quarter, helping the Hanson Memorial Tigers gain a 10-0 victory over the Delcambre Panthers Friday at McCloskey Field on a soggy field.
A short time after Young blocked the punt, Hanson’s Brant Broussard scored on a short touchdown run while also making good on the two-point conversion, giving HMS an 8-0 advantage in the third quarter.
Hanson increased its lead to 10-0 in the fourth quarter when Chase Daigle and Seppe Pillaro were credited with assisting on a safety.
Hanson quarterback Britt Young connected on 8 of 21 passes for 114 yards on the night. Young also had 11 carries for 80 yards.
Brant Broussard finished with nine totes for 32 yards with one touchdown and one two-point conversion.
Brennan Young hauled in four passes for 52 yards while Luke Rodriguez had caught three passes for 37 yards.
Clint Young finished with a team-high five total tackles, the critical blocked punt along with one sack and two knockdowns.
Hanson’s John Higdon recorded 3.5 tackles along with one sack. Daigle finished with 3.5 tackles while also assisting on the safety. Pillaro was also credited with assisting on the safety.
HMS rolled to 249 total yards with 125 coming on the ground and 124 through the air.
HMS stymied the Delcambre attack, limiting the Panthers to 13 yds passing. HMS also held the Panthers to a -2 rushing yards in the second half after DHS rushed for 99 yds in the first half but finished the game with 97 yds after the -2 yds rushing in 2nd half.
Hanson picked up its first win of the season, moving to 1-1 on the year.
HMS will travel to face Hamilton Christian on Friday.
