FSHS Hornets topple MCHS

MORGAN CITY _ The Franklin Senior High School Hornets notched their second straight victory with a 30-6 victory over the Morgan City Tigers here Friday at Tiger Stadium.
Franklin (2-3) rallied from a 3-0 deficit after Sergio Flores kicked a 43-yard field goal midway through the first period.
Franklin went on a 67-yard march in seven plays overcoming a shaky first half before when leading rusher Brian Robertson sparked the Hornets on a touchdown scoring drive. Robertson, who carried six times for 104 yards, reeled off consecutive runs of 6 and 5 yards before turning things over to Brandon McFarlane who raced the final nine yards for a touchdown, giving FSHS a 6-3 advantage at the 9:59 mark of the third period. FSHS quarterback Jarion Brown tossed a pass to Brennan Robinson on the two-point conversion, lifting the Hornets to an 8-3 lead.
Franklin’s Justin Singleton ran back a 40-yard punt return, setting up the Hornets’ second score with the ball resting at the Tigers’ 11 yard line. One play later, Robertson darted through the line on his way to an 11-yard touchdown as Franklin moved to 14-3 with 7:30 remaining in the third quarter.
In the waning moments of the third quarter, Flores made good on a 38-yard field, helping Morgan City Tigers trim Franklin’s lead to 14-6 with 1:02 showing in the third period.
Robertson opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back 25 yards runs with the latter going for a score with 10:20 remaining in the game. Robertson made good on the two-point conversion, sending the Hornets outfront by a 22-6 margin.
Less than three minutes later, McFarlane scored on a 26-yard touchdown and the two-point conversion, sending the Hornets ahead by a final score of 30-6.
Robertson finished the night with six carries for 104 yards and two touchdowns while McFarlane rushed 13 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Draylen Green had one run for 14 yards with Lamar Joseph picking up five yards on one tote.
Jarion Brown connected on three of 10 passes for 50 yards and one interception.
Brennan Robinson had one catch for 33 yards while Allen Randle made one catch for 14 yards and Simieon Theodile finished with one catch for 3 yards.
Franklin (2-3) will play host to Berwick Friday at J. C. Dry Stadium.
