Halimar rolls past South Louisiana Bank in Swampland play
Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic) rolled past South Louisiana Bank (South Terrebonne) 9-0 in Swampland League action Wednesday.
While Halimar led just 1-0 after the first inning, the Morgan City-based squad didn’t take long to break the game open, scoring five runs in the third, two in the fourth and another in the fifth.
Halimar outhit South Louisiana Bank 11-2, while South Louisiana Bank committed three errors.
Greg Leger Jr. tossed a two-hitter for Halimar, surrendering two walks and fanning three.
Offensively, he finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Matthew Barbier led Halimar with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, four RBIs and a run, while Samuel Guarisco was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Other contributors included T.J. Ruffin, 2-for-3, an RBI and a run; Sage Thibodeaux, 1-for-3, a stolen base and an RBI; Stefano Guarisco, 1-for-1, a stolen base and three runs; Tony Pennison, 1-for-2, two runs; and Charlie Barron, 1-for-4, a stolen base.
Halimar Shipyard (3-1) will return to action Monday when it travels to face LaShip (Houma Christian). Junior varsity is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
