Hanson Lady Tigers notch district win over Highland

Hanson Memorial’s Lady Tigers notched a 52-14 District 7-1A victory over the Highland Baptist Lady Bears Friday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
HMS (18-4, 5-3 in District 7-1A) will travel to face the Gueydan Lady Bears in league action Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Hanson raced outfront by a 20-2 margin and never looked back in easing past Highland Baptist.
At the half, the Lady Tigers gained an insurmountable 32-5 advantage.
Hanson went on a 14-4 flurry for a one-sided 46-9 cushion on the way to the 52-14 triumph.
Allyssa Young led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 12 points on four deuces, one trey and 1 of 2 freebies along with 6 rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Carlie Pellerin and Sarah Daniel tossed in 10 points apiece for the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers. Pellerin finished with her 10 points on four field goals and 2 of 2 free throws along with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, one steal and one block.
Daniel bagged five field goals while also grabbing seven rebounds and one assists.
Baylee Young contributed eight points on four field goals along with 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks for the Lady Tigers.
Casey Fitzgerald poured in seven points along with 3 rebounds, five assists and 1 steal.
On the night, Hanson connected on 21 of 47 field goals for a 44 per cent clip.
The Lady Tigers also recorded 6 of 12 free throws while doling out 15 assists with 26 rebounds, 6 blocks, 4 steals and 11 deflections.]
Hanson Memorial (18-4, 5-3) will travel to face Gueydan on Tuesday in District 7-1A action.
