Houma Christian Warriors win HMS Holiday Classic title

Led by Most Valuable Player Manny Frye, the Houma Christian Warriors won the 75th Annual Hanson Memorial Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament Saturday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Frye joined teammates Tom Washington and Trent Washington on the 2015 All-Tournament team after Houma Christian knocked off South Beauregard 67-62 in the HMS Holiday Classic Championship game on Saturday.
The 2015 All-Tournament team was composed of: Manny Frey, Tom Washington, Trent Washington (Houma Christian); Hayden Gunter, Jordan Vince, Micheal Blackwell (South Beauregard); Dwonyell Charles, Kevin Ina (Franklin); Duante Charles, Christian Berard West St. Mary) and Brennan Young and Bo Barrilleaux (Hanson Memorial).
In Friday’s action, South Beauregard defeated Loreauville while Hanson’s Lady Tigers stopped the Franklin Lady Hornets and the Houma Christian Warriors toppled Highland Baptist Lions, 71-43.
SOUTH BEAUREGARD 53, LOREAUVILLE 40
Hayden Gunter scored a game-high 26 points, leading the South Beauregard Knights to a 53-40 victory over the Loreauville Tigers.
Ronnie Jeanlouis led Loreauville with 10 points.
HMS LADY TIGERS 52, FRANKLIN LADY HORNETS 21
Casey Fitzgerald and Carli Pellerin scored 19 and 16 points respectively as the HMS Lady Tigers defeated the Franklin Lady Hornets 52-21.
Other top scorers for the Lady Tigers were: Sarah Sonnier, 6; Camille Baker, 5; Baylee Young, 4 and Sarah. Daniel, 2.
HOUMA CHRISTIAN 71, HIGHLAND BAPTIST 43
J. Horne and T. Green scored 15 points apiece as the Houma Christian Warriors toppled Highland Baptist 71-43 Friday.
Deondre Buggage led Highland Baptist with 15 points.
IN OTHER ACTION, the West St. Mary Wolfpack claimed wins over the Franklin Hornets and the Hanson Tigers.
West St. Mary 86, Franklin 71
Duante Charles fired in 29 points, leading the West St. Mary Wolpack to an 86-71 triumph over the Franklin Hornets.
Christian Berard added 20 points while Dondre Johnson pumped in 16 points and Chris Snowden scored four points to help propel the Wolfpack.
Kevin Ina led Franklin in scoring with 24 points while Dwonyell Charles tossed in 19 and Trey James finished with 13 to round out the double-digit scorers for Franklin.
West St. Mary 58, Hanson 49
West St. Mary went on a 21-10 run in the fourth quarter, pulling out a 58-49 win over the Hanson Memorial Tigers.
Leading scorers for the West St. Mary Wolfpack were: Duante Charles, 23; Dondre Johnson, 14; TaRik Rouchon, 7; Scottie Gray, 6 and Chris Snowden, 3.
Leading scorers for the Hanson Tigers were: B. Barrilleaux, 11; Skyler Fitch, 9; Brennan Young 8; Britt Young, 6; Josh Sanchez, 5 and Clint Young, 4.
