'Jacks fall to Beau Chene

Staff Report

The Patterson Lumberjacks fell to Beau Chene 6-0 in baseball action on the road Wednesday.
While Patterson limited Beau Chene to just three hits, the Lumberjacks recorded one hit in the loss.
“Only giving up (two) hits and losing is tough,” Patterson head coach Ryan Jensen said. “We just didn’t throw enough strikes. We gave them the opportunity to score runs. Offensively, it continues to be a struggle. I saw some improved at bats today, but not having the positive results makes things difficult. We’ll continue to work and continue to seek the improvement necessary to change things.”
Matt Dardeau had Patterson’s lone hit as he finished 1-for-2.
On the mound, Patterson’s pitching struggled with hit batsmen as Beau Chene got seven players on board after being hit by pitches.
Patterson’s Jake Lagrange took the loss. In 2.2 innings, he surrendered four runs — one earned — on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts. He also hit six batters.
Reliever Lukas Carnley pitched 3.2 innings and surrendered two earned runs on one hit with five strikeouts.
Beau Chene scored all of its runs in two innings with four in the third inning and two more in the fifth.
Patterson (1-3) will return to action Friday at Hanson’s tournament when the Lumberjacks take on host Hanson in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
