'Jacks win consolation title at St. Martinville Holiday Shootout

The Patterson Lumberjacks won the consolation title at St. Martinville’s Holiday Shootout Tuesday with a 58-49 victory against Hamilton Christian.
Patterson jumped out to a 15-7 lead after the first quarter, but Hamilton Christian cut its deficit to 25-21 by halftime.
The Lumberjacks rebounded after the half, outscoring Hamilton Christian 15-12 in the third quarter for a 40-33 lead after three quarters.
Kenneth Washington led three Patterson players in double figures with 16 points.
Other Patterson scorers included Nehemiah Augustus, 15; Taylan Grogan, 13; D.J. Jones, seven; Dajon Richard, four; and Khyri Harris, three.
Patterson finished the tournament with a 3-1 mark, bouncing back from a first-round loss to Breaux Bridge with victories against David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy, Thibodaux and Hamilton Christian.
The Lumberjacks (8-3) will return to action Tuesday when they travel to take on Ellender in a 7 p.m. contest.
Berwick to play for
tournament championship
The Berwick Panthers knocked off Iota, 60-48, Tuesday at the North Vermilion Holiday Classic and will face St. Louis today for the tournament championship.
In Tuesday’s win, Audwin Williams led Berwick (11-7) with 17 points, while Donald Tillman also reached double figures with 15 points.
Other scorers included Tysin Meads, six points; Collin Louviere, five; Kenan Jones and Larenz Clark, four apiece; and Cody Roberie, Silton Span and Josh Carver, three apiece.
Central Catholic falls
to E.D. White
The Central Catholic Eagles fell to E.D. White, 53-33, Tuesday at E.D. White’s Cardinal Classic.
E.D. White led 12-0 after a period of play, 28-11 at the half and 45-27 after three quarters.
Jalen Johnson led Central Catholic with 15 points, while Elijah Swan scored eight.
Central Catholic (2-7) concluded play in the Cardinal Classic today with a 12:30 p.m. contest against Lusher Charter.

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles defeated the Academy of Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau, 62-20, on the road Tuesday.
No individual stats were available.
Central Catholic (9-4 overall, 1-0 district) will return to action Monday when it hosts Gueydan in a District 7-1A contest set for 5 p.m.
