'Jills remain perfect in District 8-3A play

The Patterson High School Lumberjills remained perfect in District 8-3A play with a 44-20 victory against Berwick at home Tuesday.
Alex Benjamin led Patterson with 12 points.
Other scorers included Erykah Singleton, nine; Kem Williams, eight; Makayla Ruiz, six; Keyanna Butler, three; and Nyla Holder, Keona Johnson and Kemiah Watson, two points apiece.
No individual statistics were available for Berwick (1-11 overall, 0-5 in district), which will return to action Friday at 5:30 p.m. when it hosts Kaplan in District 8-3A action.
Patterson also will continue District 8-3A action Friday when it hits the court in Thibodaux for a contest against E.D. White, set to begin at approximately 6:15 p.m. E.D. White is ranked No. 3 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A Power Rankings.
Central Catholic routs Highland Baptist
Central Catholic rolled past Highland Baptist 59-10 in high school girls’ basketball action Tuesday in Morgan City.
The Lady Eagles led 14-0 after the first quarter and actually led 29-0 before Highland Baptist scored its lone points of the first half on a layup with less than three minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Highland Baptist didn’t score again until around the 7:22 mark of the fourth quarter.
Central Catholic led 32-2 at halftime and 50-2 after three quarters.
Lydia Rivas led Central Catholic with 14 points, nine rebounds, nine steals and two assists, while Hallie Autin also added 14 points along with four rebounds and two steals.
Other scorers included Jalaysia Bertrand, 13 points, two assists and two steals; Rebecca David and Taylor Picou, six points each; Sydney Williams, four points; and Yani Johnson, two points.
Central Catholic (11-6, 3-2) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Vermilion Catholic in a District 7-1A contest set for 6:30 p.m. Vermilion Catholic is ranked No. 8 in Class 1A in the latest LHSAA Power Rankings.
Assumption defeats Morgan City
Assumption High School knocked off Morgan City High School, 58-38
Assumption took a 13-4 lead after the first quarter, extended its lead to 32-19 at the half and 45-31 after three quarters.
Laqwaijhia Bourgeois led Morgan City with 19 points, while Sh’Diamond Holly also reached double figures with 10 points.
Other scorers included Courtney Welch, three points; and Alisha Singleton, Hailey Lewis and Ke’tasha Williams, two points apiece.
Morgan City (4-9, 0-2) will return to action Friday when it travels to face South Lafourche in a 6 p.m. contest.
