Lady Tigers top South Terrebonne

The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated South Terrebonne 59-51 victory in District 7-4A action Friday.
The Lady Tigers were led by Laqwaijha Bourgeois’ 24 points.
Casey Chenevert also finished in double figures in the victory with 17 points.
Other scorers for Morgan City included Steveyion Walker and Meya Morse with four points each, Haley Harris and Alisha Singleton with three points apiece and Jayme Alvarado and Elicia Dorsey with two points apiece.
Morgan City (9-8 overall, 2-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Vandebilt Catholic is a 6 p.m. contest.
Patterson falls
to Donaldsonville
Donaldsonville outscored Patterson 15-4 in the fourth quarter for a 47-39 victory in District 9-3A action at Patterson Friday.
Patterson led 35-32 in the fourth quarter.
“I thought we played well through the first three quarters, but we couldn’t score in the fourth,” Patterson coach Tyler Olivier said.
The score was tied at eight after the first quarter, while Donaldsonville took a 24-23 lead at the half.
Patterson outscored Donaldsonville 12-8 in the third quarter to take the lead heading into the fourth.
In addition to the fourth-quarter scoring drought, Olivier said Donaldsonville’s solid shooting, which included six three pointers, Patterson’s 21 turnovers and its poor free throw shooting made it difficult for the team to win.
Nakia Brooks led Patterson with 11 points as well as four rebounds, four assists and three blocks, while Erykah Singleton had eight points and nine rebounds.
Other contributors for Patterson included Gaylen Grogan, nine points and seven rebounds; Jazmin Evans, five points; and Alex Benjamin, Makayla Ruiz and Kemprielle Williams, all two points.
Patterson (14-8 overall, 2-1 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts E.D. White in district action.
Other Tuesday action
Berwick’s and Central Catholic’s girls basketball teams will return to action Tuesday in District 9-3A and District 7-1A, respectively.
The Lady Panthers (0-12, 0-3) will travel to Donaldsonville for a 6 p.m. contest.
Central Catholic (4-16, 1-5) will travel to face Gueydan in a 6:30 p.m. contest.
