Lafayette topples the CHS Bulldogs

LAFAYETTE _ Lafayette Christian High School used a balanced scoring attack to earn a 73-40 District 7-1A victory over the Centerville Bulldogs here Friday at the LCA Gym.
Centerville dropped to 17-6 overall and 9-3 in 7-1A, while LCA improves to 20-3 overall and 12-0 in 7-1A.
Centerville will host Vermilion Catholic on Tuesday while LCA will travel to AES.
LCA benefited from a 32-9 third quarter run to subdue the CHS Bulldogs.
LCA managed to hold a slim 13-12 lead over Centerville at the end of the first stanza. At intermission, the LCA Knights extended their lead to 27-19 over CHS. The Knights exploded past Centerville in the third quarter following the 32-9 run on the way to the 73-40 victory.
Jaylon Williams and Lance Howard finished with 13 points apiece to lead Centerville in scoring. Williams tossed in his 13 points on 2-2’s, 1 3-pointer along with 6 of 7 FTs. Howard bagged 3-2’s, 1 3-pointer and 4 of 6 FTs.
Jaqualon Bourgeois
struck for five points on 1 3-pointer and 2 of 3 FTs. Ryan Young tallied 5 points on 1 deuce and one trey. Marquis Strawder finished with 4 points on 1-2 and 2 of 2 FTs.
On the night, Centerville bagged 14 of 18 FTs while committing 15 fouls.

LCA connected 12 of 16 FTs and 18 fouls on the night.
