Landry throws no-hitter in CCHS win

Central Catholic High School rolled past South Lafourche, 12-0, in five innings in softball action on the road Monday.
Central Catholic pitcher Megan Landry tossed a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in the mercy-rule victory.
The game was Landry’s third no-hitter of the season, and if not for one South Lafourche baserunner reaching on an error, Landry would have had her second perfect game in less than a week after tossing one last Tuesday against Vermilion Catholic.
Central Catholic scored in every inning except the third, plating four runs in the first, one in the second, six in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Offensively, the Lady Eagles pounded out 10 hits, including three doubles and two triples.
Brittany Longman led Central Catholic with a 2-for-3 performance with a double, a triple, three RBIs and three runs, while Taylor Picou was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs.
Other offensive contributors included Jena Teachman, 2-for-2, two runs; Hallie Autin, 1-for-3, a triple, an RBI and a run; Bridgette Swan, 1-for-2, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs; Kelly Russo, 1-for-1, an RBI; and Megan Landry, 1-for-3, an RBI
Central Catholic (12-1) will return to action today when it travels to face Ascension Episcopal in a District 7-1A contest set for 4:30 p.m.
Morgan City falls to Plaquemine
Morgan City High School dropped an 8-4 decision to Plaquemine High School on the road Monday.
Morgan City (9-6) will return to action today when it hosts Assumption in a 6 p.m. district contest.
Berwick High
falls to Cecelia
Berwick High School fell on the road to Cecilia, 11-3, Monday.
Cecilia jumped out to a 2-0 lead after an inning, and while Berwick cut its deficit to 2-1 after the top of the second, Cecilia came back with two runs in the bottom of the second.
Berwick again sliced its deficit with a run in the top of the third for a 4-2 Cecilia lead, but Cecilia came back with single runs in the fourth and fifth for a 6-2 advantage.
While Berwick plated a run in the sixth, Cecilia put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Sydney Aucoin suffered the loss. In six innings, she surrendered 11 runs on 14 hits with one strikeout.
Cecilia outhit Berwick 14-6.
Aucoin led Berwick with a home run, while Jordan Lipari had a double.
Berwick (10-12) will return to action today when it hosts Donaldsonville in District 9-3A action. The contest is set for a 4 p.m. start.
