Late rally dooms Berwick in 3-2 loss to Thibodaux

Thibodaux edged Berwick, 3-2, in high school baseball action in Berwick Tuesday.
Trailing 2-0, Thibodaux scored all three of its runs in the top of the seventh.
Berwick plated single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.
Grant Oubre suffered the loss in relief. In one inning, he surrendered three earned runs on one hit with two walks and fanned two.
Logan Angeron started for Berwick. In 5.1 innings, he surrendered two hits, walked two, hit two batters and fanned two.
Ty Duthu finished 2-for-3 to lead Berwick. Other top contributors included Angeron, 1-for-2, a double and an RBI; and Cameron Wiley, 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Berwick (2-3) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in its annual Panther Classic in a 6 p.m. contest against Covenant Christian. Covenant Christian was a Class 1A semifinalist a year ago.
Patterson run-rules
St. Augustine
The Patterson Lumberjacks run-ruled St. Augustine in five innings at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux Tuesday.
Brennan Gouaux earned the complete-game victory as he tossed a two-hitter. In five innings, he surrendered an earned run with two walks and fanned six.
Patterson scored in every at bat, plating five runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.
St. Augustine plated its lone run of the game in the top of the second.
Offensively, Jamey Fabre led Patterson with a 3-for-3 performance with four RBIs and a run. Other top contributors included Gouaux, 3-for-3, two runs and a stolen base; Brad Beaubouef, 2-for-2, a double, an RBI and two runs; Matt Dardeau, 1-for-3, a double, two RBIs and a run; Joel Singleton and Christian Soria, each 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run; Tyrik Singleton, 1-for-3, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base; Bryce Beaubouef, 1-for-4, an RBI and a run; and Blake Dreyer, 1-for-2, a double and two runs.
Patterson (2-2) will return to action Thursday when it participates in Hanson’s tournament.
The Lumberjacks will host two games Thursday, a 4 p.m. contest against Highland Baptist and a 6:30 p.m. game against Delcambre.
The Lumberjacks will not be playing Friday against Hanson in the tournament due to its basketball team participating in the Class 3A quarterfinals on the road against Wossman.
Terrebonne edges MCHS
Terrebonne edged Morgan City, 7-6, at Tiger Diamond in Morgan City Wednesday.
Terrebonne used a four-run sixth inning to overtake Morgan City.
Trailing 6-3, Terrebonne scored four runs in the inning for a 7-6 advantage.
While Terrebonne took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Morgan City responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame for a 6-2 advantage.
Terrebonne added another run in the top of the fourth to cut its deficit to 6-3.
Terrebonne outhit Morgan City, 12-9, and Morgan City committed five errors.
No individual stats were available for Morgan City.
The game originally was scheduled to be played in Houma but was moved to Morgan City.
Morgan City (1-3) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Berwick’s Panther Classic. Morgan City will face Brusly in a 5 p.m. contest at Tiger Diamond in Morgan City.
CCHS game moved
to today
Central Catholic’s baseball contest with Brusly, scheduled for Tuesday in Brusly, was postponed a day due to the threat of weather. The game will be played today at 5:30 p.m. in Brusly.
