Local drought in prep polls continues

Local teams continued their drought in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s prep football polls as no team was ranked or received votes, including Class 3A Patterson, who blasted the then-sixth-ranked team in Class 4A a week ago.

Patterson (2-2) defeated Vandebilt Catholic 51-19 in Houma Friday. Vandebilt Catholic dropped to No. 9 following the loss.

In Class 3A, Livonia, who defeated Morgan City a week ago, 45-0, jumped to No. 8 in this week’s poll from No. 9 a week ago.

Locally, Central Catholic’s opponent this week, Vermilion Catholic, remained ranked No. 3 in Class 1A following a 49-7 victory against Lafayette Christian last week.

The team that beat Central Catholic in Week 4 action, Highland Baptist received 14 votes.

Another District 7-1A opponent of Central Catholic, Hanson Memorial, received six votes.
