Lumberjacks to open 2016 season at Central Lafourche

The Patterson Lumberjacks will open their 2016 season on the road when they face Central Lafourche today in a 7 p.m. contest at Trojan Stadium in Matthews.
Both teams come into the contest on winning notes as Central Lafourche defeated South Lafourche, 23-9, in jamboree action.
Central Lafourche scored 14 points in the second-half of last week’s jamboree and kept the Tarpons off the board.
Nelton Allen had one rushing touchdown and another receiving score in the victory.
Top players for Central Lafourche are quarterback Jake Allemand, running back Nelton Allen and linebacker Zavier Triplett.
Last season, Central Lafourche defeated Patterson, 24-13.
At last week’s Morgan City High School Football Jamboree, the Lumberjacks defeated Berwick, 14-6, and Morgan City, 8-7.
Against Berwick, Patterson overcame a 6-0 lead for the victory as quarterback Dillan Giandelone connected with wide receiver Khyri Harris for a 19-yard touchdown and the eventual lead for good with 8:27 left in the game.
Giandelone added a 15-yard rushing score.
Against Morgan City, Dajon Richard scored from 2 yards out and was successful on a two-point conversion attempt with 12 seconds left as Patterson rallied for an 8-7 win.
Tonight’s Patterson-Central Lafourche game will be broadcast on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 a.m. KQKI also will be providing updates.
