Lumberjacks top E.D. White 40-23

The Patterson Lumberjacks shut out E.D. White in the third quarter en route to a 40-23 victory against the Cardinals in District 9-3A action Tuesday.
While Patterson led just 14-13 at the half, the Lumberjacks outscored the Cardinals 10-0 in the third period to take a 24-13 lead after three quarters.
Patterson outscored E.D. White 16-10 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
The Lumberjacks led 7-4 after the first period, while E.D. White came back with a 9-7 scoring advantage in the second quarter.
Mykel Jones led Patterson with 15 points.
Other scorers included D.J. Jones with nine points; Taylan Grogan, eight; and Daylon Charlot and Kenneth Washington with four points apiece.
Patterson (11-5 overall, 1-1 in district) will return to action Thursday when it makes the short trip to Morgan City to take on Central Catholic. The squads will meet in just varsity action in a 6 p.m. contest.

Central Catholic
defeats Gueydan
The Central Catholic Eagles picked up a District 7-1A win on the road Tuesday with a 55-48 win against Gueydan.
The Eagles, who trailed 17-16 after the first quarter, outscored Gueydan in the remaining three quarters.
The Eagles led 28-27 at halftime and 41-39 after three quarters.
Samarick Paul led three Eagles in double figures with 17 points. Other scorers included Jalen Johnson, 15; Charlie Solar, 13; and Stefano Guarisco, seven.
In junior varsity action, Central Catholic routed Gueydan, 41-16.
Elijah Swan led Central Catholic with 14 points, while Demarcus Mitchell had 12.
Central Catholic (8-10, 5-1) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Patterson.

Vandebilt Catholic edges Morgan City
Vandebilt Catholic handed Morgan City its first loss, a 41-40 setback, in District 7-4A action in Houma Tuesday.
The Terriers and the Tigers were battling for sole possession of first place, which the Terriers took, while improving to 3-0 in district.
Morgan City coach Brandon Harden said two second half technical fouls hurt his team because it gave Vandebilt Catholic momentum and Morgan City wasn’t able to seize it back until late in the game when it was too late.
Harden credited Vandebilt Catholic’s team.
“They got a solid team with a lot of shooters,” he said.
Vandebilt Catholic led 6-5 after the first quarter, while Morgan City took a 15-10 advantage at the half.
“In the first half we played solid on defense, we boxed out all the little things,” Harden said.
In the third quarter, Vandebilt Catholic outscored Morgan City 17-9 to take a 27-24 lead after three quarters.
Makye Richard led Morgan City with 11 points.
Other scorers for Morgan City included Lloyd Singleton with eight points; Tywuan Walker, seven; Brady Fryou and Jaylen Jones, six each; and Marvin Young, two.
Morgan City (12-7, 2-1) will return to action Friday when it hosts Assumption in District 7-4A action. Junior varsity boys will take the court at 5 p.m., while girls will play at 6 p.m. and boys will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Berwick falls to
Donaldsonville
The Berwick Panthers fell at Donaldsonville, 55-49, in District 9-3A action Tuesday.
No individual statistics were available.
Berwick will return to action Friday when it hosts Patterson in District 9-3A action
