Makye Richard earns Class 4A All-State honorable mention honors
Morgan City High School junior Makye Richard was named an honorable mention selection on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State team.
Richard finished his junior season with per-game averages of 23.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
Morgan City head coach Robert Lee said Richard played hard all the time.
“He plays with maximum effort,” Lee said.
Lee said he thought Richard’s ball handling and decision making improved this season.
“I think his ability to score the basketball definitely increased as the season went on, especially in district, so I think he has a very bright future as he continues to work on his game,” Lee said.
Morgan City finished its season with a 12-18 overall record.
District 7-4A, which Morgan City competed in, was represented by players from three other schools.
Ellender’s Quentin Scott, a 6-foot, 6-inch senior, made the first team after averaging 22 points per game.
Ellender junior Davontavean Martin was a second-team selection after averaging 18 points a game.
