MCHS beats Delcambre in four games Tuesday

The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated Delcambre High School 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22) Tuesday.

Senior Jaiveianna Jones led the Lady Tigers with one ace, 11 kills, one block, 13 digs and an assist, while freshman Kennedy Hebert had six kills, 23 digs and an ace.

Other top contributors included sophomore Abby Reynaud, one ace, one kill, 15 assists and five digs; junior Cecily Feliciano, 14 assists, three digs and one kill; senior Brandi Ingram, 15 digs and three kills; and junior Dwanna LeBeau, two aces, five kills and one dig.

In junior varsity action, Morgan City defeated Delcambre 2-0 (25-16, 25-23).

The Lady Tigers had 11 aces, led by four apiece from sophomores Paige Loftin and Faith Crappell.

Loftin also had five kills and five digs, while Crappell had one kill and four digs, too.

Other top contributors included freshman Allie Vincent, four assists and three digs; sophomore Brandi Albarado, one ace and four digs; and Reynaud, one ace, one kill and three assists.

In freshmen action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-10, 25-10).

Morgan City again had success from the service line with 13 aces, led by six from Matti Rivere

Rivere also had two digs.

Other top contributors included Alisha Singleton, two aces, one kill and one dig; Abigail Landry, two aces and one kill; Hailey Lewis, two aces and one dig; Scottie Metrejean, one assist and two digs; Alaysia Williams, one ace and one kill; and Gabrielle Guarisco, one assist.

Morgan City (4-4) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in its 2014 Lady Tiger Classic. Morgan City will face South Terrebonne in a 5:30 p.m. contest.

Patterson beats West St. Mary

Patterson defeated West St. Mary 3-1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-5, 25-12) in volleyball action in Baldwin Tuesday.

The Lumberjills, who remained undefeated improving to 4-0, recorded 24 aces in the win.

Junior Tamia Washington led the team with seven aces, while senior Nyria Robinson had five.

Washington added 15 points and two kills, while Robinson also had one point and three kills.

Other top contributors included junior Gaylen Grogan, four aces, eight points, 14 kills and two blocks; junior Arian Grogan, three aces, three points; nine kills and one assist; junior Nia Broussard, five points; three kills, one dig and 25 assists; and sophomore Makayla Ruiz, three aces, three points, five kills and one dig.

In junior varsity action, Patterson defeated West St. Mary 2-0 (25-17, 25-14).

Patterson had 21 aces, led by eight apiece by freshmen Morgan Jones and Tapanga Haven.

Jones also had two points, one kill and one dig, while Haven had two points and one assist.

Other top contributors included freshman Madison Paul, four aces and three points; sophomore Erykah Singleton, two kills; sophomore Irinesha Kinchen, two digs; and junior Nyla Grady, three points.

Patterson will return to action Thursday when it begins play in the 2014 Morgan City Lady Tiger Classic against Covenant Christian in a 6:30 p.m. contest.

Berwick knocks off

South Lafourche

The Berwick High School volleyball team defeated South Lafourche 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-8) at home Tuesday.

Junior Ashton Morales led the Lady Panthers with one ace, nine kills, two blocks, seven assists and six digs, while sophomore Mary Jordan Melancon had one ace, four kills, two assists and two digs.

Other top contributors included senior Rennen DeLatte, six aces and five digs; sophomore Roslyn Gros, six aces and three digs; senior Abigail Askew, four kills, one block and one assist; and senior Hannah Carpenter, six digs.

The Lady Panthers recorded 15 aces in the contest.

In junior varsity action, Berwick defeated South Lafourche 25-19, 25-20.

Berwick (7-2) will return to action Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when it opens action in Morgan City High School’s 2014 Lady Tiger Classic against defending Division IV state champion Newman.
