MCHS, Berwick to meet in Week 1 action

For Berwick and Morgan City High schools, tonight’s game in Berwick is round two.
The two teams squared off a week ago in the Morgan City High School Football Jamboree, with Patterson taking a 14-0 victory.
Berwick finished the jamboree 0-2, also falling to Patterson, 14-6. Berwick had started the Patterson game on a positive note, moving the ball down the field for a 15-yard score on its opening drive.
However, the Panthers could not reach the end zone again.
Morgan City finished 1-1 in its jamboree action, defeating Berwick, 14-0, and falling to Patterson, 8-7.
Against Berwick, Morgan City’s Kalen Hillen scored two touchdowns — one passing and one receiving
Against Patterson, Morgan City took a 7-0 lead when Isaiah Escort connected on a 60-plus yard touchdown pass with Makye Richard for the Tigers’ score.
Patterson got on the scoreboard with 12 seconds remaining when Richard scored on a 2-yard run. Richard also scored the subsequent game-winning two-point conversion.
Today’s game will begin at 7 p.m. at Geisler Stadium in Berwick. It will be broadcast on KQKI 95.3 F.M.
