MCHS boys soccer tops Terrebonne; girls fall to St. Michael the Archangel

The Morgan City High School boys’ soccer team defeated Terrebonne, 5-1, Friday while the girls’ team lost to St. Michael the Archangel, 2-0.
“The boys came off strong in the first half with our first goal coming in the 4th minute with a through ball from Miguel Perez to Irving Delgado who went on the outside of the defense to score,” Morgan City Coach Trevor Patterson said.
In the 22nd minute, Mario Sanchez passed to Delgado who passed to Daniel Alvarado for the goal.
In the 27th minute, Sergize Flores found some combination passes with Alvarado who got the ball to Flores for the score. In the 30th minute, Delgado would get his second goal for the night to give MCHS a 4-1 lead at halftime.
In the 78th minute, Alvarado got his second goal of the night to secure the win.
The Lady Tigers lost to St. Michael’s, 2-0, after the game was scoreless at halftime.
“I told the players the first person to score would have the game with the momentum,” Patterson said. Though the Lady Tigers lost, the game was well-played, Patterson said.
Both teams start division play at home Tuesday against South Terrebonne with girls playing at 5 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.
