MCHS to close season against Assumption

Morgan City High School will conclude its 2016 season Friday when it hosts Assumption in a District 7-4A contest.
The Tigers (3-6 overall, 0-4 in district) will be looking to send their seniors off with a victory in their final prep football game.
“I told our kids we got to go out there Friday and battle and play as hard as we can and let the chips fall where they may,” Morgan City Coach Scott Tregle said. You never know what could happen.”
Morgan City fell a week ago to Vandebilt Catholic, 62-0, in Houma.
Meanwhile, Assumption (5-4, 4-0) earned a share of the District 7-4A title with a victory against South Lafourche.
Assumption can clinch the district title outright with Friday’s win or a Vandebilt Catholic loss to Ellender.
The Mustangs are averaging 24.7 points a game and surrendering 27.3 a contest.
Offensively, the Mustangs run a spread offense out of the wing t.
“Nothing real fancy, but they just play hard,” Morgan City coach Scott Tregle said.
He said they are solid on offense, defense and special teams.
“They have a lot of good experienced kids that just play hard and get after it.”
Morgan City is averaging 185.4 yards of offense a game and surrendering 254.2 yards per contest.
Morgan City is led on the ground by running back Ethan Scioneaux, who has carried the ball 82 times for 333 yards and two scores. Teammate Kalen Hillen had 36 carries for 131 yards.
Through the air, quarterback Isaiah Escort has completed 25 of 70 passes for 448 yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Teammate Alex Brocato has completed 17 of 59 passes for 251 yards with one score and six interceptions.
Hillen leads the team’s receivers with 14 catches for 316 yards and three touchdowns.
