MCHS falls to Ellender in regular season finale

In a battle of undefeated teams, the Morgan City Lady Tigers could not complete a perfect regular season as they fell to Ellender, 22.5-4.5 in both teams’ bowling finale Monday at Creole Lanes.
The matchup pitted two teams who made playoff runs a year ago as Morgan City finished one game away from advancing to the state’s Final Four, while Ellender advanced to the Final Four.
In Monday’s matchup, Morgan City was led by Meghan Amador’s 501 series (184, 140, 177), while Hannah Pipes had a 462 series (187, 131, 144) and Cayce Keton, a 410 series (131, 146, 133).
Other top games bowled by Morgan City included Marissa Davis’ 148 and 144.
Meanwhile, the Morgan City Tigers won their regular season finale against Thibodaux, 22-5.
Top games for Morgan City included Jayson Hidalgo (179, 166), Joey Jeter (163, 152), Antoine Bui (166), Jason Myers (161), Gage Hirschman (157), Jonathan Spinella (157) and Hau Vo (156).
In Morgan City, Central Catholic topped Vandebilt Catholic 16-11 at Charlie’s Lanes Monday.
Emily Price led Central Catholic with a 434 series (164, 132, 138), while Katrina Robertson had a 431 series (145, 175), Christian Carbins, a 428 series (148, 160), and Ann Mary Dupuis, a 417 series (172, 140).
Other top games were Alex Aucoin’s 164.
Also in Morgan City, Berwick fell to Central Lafourche 17-10.
Mickenzie Reed led Berwick with a 576 series (179, 184, 213), while Josie Estay had a 519 series (210, 171).
Other top games included Micah Lambert’s 144.
Regional bowling begins Monday in Houma
Area boys’ and girls’ bowling teams will head to Creole Lanes in Houma Tuesday for regional bowling action.
In boys’ action, District 3 champion South Terrebonne (12-0 overall, 8-0 in district), District 1 champion Berwick (11-1, 6-0) and District 2 champion H.L. Bourgeois (11-1, 8-0) all received byes and won’t play until 1:15 p.m.
The winner of the first-round matchup between Morgan City (4-8) and E.D. White (3-9) at 11:15 a.m. will face South Terrebonne, while Vandebilt Catholic (10-2) and Central Catholic (1.5-10.5) will meet at 11:15 a.m. in first-round action.
The Vandebilt Catholic-Central Catholic winner will meet the winner of the Terrebonne (10-2) and Thibodaux (0-12) winner at 1:15 p.m. in other second-round action.
Berwick will await the winner of the Central Lafourche (5-6) and Houma Christian (2.5-8.5) first-round contest at 11:15 a.m.
Also, Ellender (5-7) and South Lafourche (3-9) will meet in first-round action at 11:15 a.m. and the winner will face H.L. Bourgeois at 1:15 p.m.
Five teams will advance to the state’s Western bi-regional in Bossier City. These include the second-round winners as well as the team that emerges from elimination bracket play between the second-round losers.
The elimination games’ dates and times will be determined after the second-round is complete.
Also, the top single’s bowlers will advance to bi-regionals.
On the girls’ side, Ellender (12-0) and Morgan City (11-1) both received first-round byes and won’t bowl until 1:15 p.m.
Ellender will meet the winner of the first-round matchup between Central Catholic (4-8) and Berwick (3-9), while Morgan City will meet the winner of the South Terrebonne (5-7) and E.D. White (0-12) matchup.
The South Terrebonne-E.D. White and Central Catholic-Berwick contests both will be held at 11:15 a.m.
The winner of the second-round contest between Ellender and their yet-to-be-determined opponent as well as Morgan City and their yet-to-be-determined opponent will advance to bi-regionals as well as the winner of the matchups between Vandebilt (6-6) and H.L. Bourgeois (6-6) and Central Lafourche (8-4) and Terrebonne (5-7).
Also, the top singles bowlers will advance to the state’s western bi-regionals.
