MCHS falls to HLB, 39-31
Morgan City High School’s girls’ basketball team fell to H.L. Bourgeois, 39-31, in Morgan City Wednesday.
While the game was tied at 9 after a quarter, H.L. Bourgeois outscored Morgan City, 14-4, in the second period for a 23-13 halftime advantage.
Morgan City cut its deficit to 32-25 after three quarters, but H.L. Bourgeois held a 7-6 scoring advantage in the final period.
Alisha Singleton led Morgan City with 17 points. Other scorers included Sh’Diamond Holly, seven; Deryon Johnson, three; and Hailey Lewis and Twanna LeBeau, two points apiece.
Morgan City (2-3) will return to action Friday when it hosts Teurlings Catholic.
Berwick ends
losing streak
The Berwick Lady Panthers snapped a 21-game losing streak that spanned more than a calendar year with a 22-17 victory against West St. Mary Wednesday at Hanson Memorial’s 76th Holiday Classic.
Prior to Wednesday night, Berwick’s last win came Dec. 11, 2015, in a 47-43 win against Christian Life.
No individual statistics were submitted from Berwick’s contest Wednesday.
Berwick (1-8) will return to action today when it hosts E.D. White at 6:30 p.m. in the Lady Panthers’ District 8-3A opener.
CCHS falls to
H.L. Bourgeois
H.L. Bourgeois routed Central Catholic, 75-44, in boys’ basketball action in Gray Tuesday.
No individual statistics were submitted for Central Catholic.
The Eagles (1-1) will return to action Thursday when they face Patterson at 8 p.m. in opening-day action at Patterson High’s annual hoops tournament.
