MCHS Fancy Dancers excel at camp

The 2015-16 Morgan City High School Fancy Dancers excelled at a University Dance Camp given by the American All-Stars Dance/Drill Team at Nicholls State University in August.
The team won the Camp Champions, which is given to the No. 1 team in all of the three divisions attending, took first place in Home Routine, End-of-Camp competition, the Judges Award trophy for best all-around team (voted on by the American All-Stars staff) and Most Admired Team trophy (voted on by all girls and teams attending camp).
Additionally, eight members of the Fancy Dancers received All-Star awards. They include Cassie Giroir (captain), Ta’Nyre Thomas (captain), Noelle Topham, Milia Gash, Paige Landry, Elizabeth Ramirez (lieutenant), Ta’Janaye Hawkins and Ali Tregle (lieutenant).
At the August camp, many teams from Louisiana attended and brought a “home routine” to compete on the first day. Then, the teams learned many routines and chose which dances they wanted to compete with on the final day.
There were three divisions, based on the size of the squads, competing.
In addition to the All-Star selections, other members of Morgan City’s Fancy Dancers are Tyla Weary, Kelsey Crochet, Hena Morgan, A’Mari Martin, Matison LeBlanc and Jill McCarty.
The team’s sponsor is Courtney Matherne.
