MCHS girls bowling team rallies to defeat Ellender

In a battle of two semifinalists from a year ago, Morgan City got the best of Ellender in a close 16-11 win to open the high school bowling season Wednesday at Bowl South in Houma.
While Morgan City trailed 5-3 after game 1 and 10-6 after two games, the Lady Tigers took five of the six points in game three, received two additional points for knocking down more pins in the frame than Ellender (1,061-924) and secured the match by earning three bonus points for knocking down more total pins in the match (2,872-2,851).
Hannah Pipes led Moran City with a 656 series (196, 246, 214), while Meghan Amador bowled a 576 series (171, 224, 181). Other top contributors included Marissa Davis with a 502 series, including a game of 221; Kyleigh Campbell, 197; and Mackenzie Amador, 152.
Morgan City (1-0) will return to action Monday when it hosts Vandebilt Catholic at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City, while Wednesday, the squad will travel to face Terrebonne at Creole Lanes in Houma. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
Central Lafourche defeats Berwick girls
Central Lafourche defeated Berwick High School, 22-5, in girls’ bowling action at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City Wednesday. Top contributors for Berwick included Shannon Derise with games of 150 and 160 and Haidyn Derise with a 165.
Berwick (0-1) will return to action Monday and Wednesday with matches at Creole Lanes in Houma. Monday, Berwick will meet South Terrebonne, while Wednesday, the squad will play H.L. Bourgeois. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
MCHS Tigers beat Ellender (Boys)
The Morgan City Tigers routed Ellender, 22-5, in boys’ action Wednesday at Bowl South in Houma.
Top contributors included Hau Vo (241, 232), Jonathan Spinella (224, 180), Devin Hidalgo (178, 226), Jayson Hidalgo (191, 197), Zachary Stewart (173, 192), Trevor Tong (167) and Devin Mayon (163).

Berwick fall to Central Lafourche (Boys)
The Berwick High School Panthers fell to Central Lafourche, 23-4, in high school bowling action at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City Wednesday.
Abram Gilder led Berwick with a 591 series (180, 245, 166). Other top scorers included Tristan McGonagill (167, 191), Ian Valdez (180, 167), Kyle Valdez (192) and Scott Price (166).
Berwick (0-1) will return to action next week with a pair of road matches at Creole Lanes in Houma. Monday, Berwick will face South Terrebonne, while Wednesday, the squad will meet Vandebilt Catholic. Both matches are set for 3:40 p.m. starts.
