MCHS hires Howard as new football coach/AD

Staff Report

Morgan City High School has hired its new head football coach and athletic director, the school announced in a Facebook post Monday afternoon.
Morgan City has hired Eric Howard to lead the Tigers as both head football coach and athletic director.
Howard comes to Morgan City from DeRidder High School where he has served as defensive coordinator since 2013.
The new Morgan City coach, who will begin his time at the school following the Christmas holidays, is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in health and physical education.
He brings with him military service as he served as a squad leader in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1997-2005.
Morgan City High School Principal Mickey Fabre could not be reached for comment on the hire Monday evening.
Howard will replace Scott Tregle as both head football coach and athletic director. Tregle resigned last month from his positions after three years of service.
Tregle, a Morgan City alum, compiled a 9-21 mark in three seasons as the Tigers head coach, including a 3-7 record this year.
His best season was his second in 2015 when the Tigers finished 4-6. During that season, the Tigers started the year 4-0.
