MCHS' Lady Tiger Classic will begin Thursday

Twenty teams will converge at two sites for Morgan City High School’s 2014 Lady Tiger Classic.
The event, which will be held at Morgan City High School Thursday and both the high school and Morgan City Junior High Saturday, will feature a mixture of area teams as well as those from across south Louisiana.
In addition to host Morgan City, Patterson and Berwick also will participate.
Morgan City and Berwick will compete in the Green Division.
In Pool A, Berwick will compete against Landry/Walker, Newman, St. Martinville and Sulphur.
In Pool B, Morgan City will face Hahnville, New Iberia, Sam Houston and South Terrebonne.
Patterson will compete in the White Division.
In Pool A along with the Lumberjills will be Central Lafourche, Covenant Christian, Ellender and Franklin.
In Pool B, Houma Christian, South Lafourche, Thibodaux, Westlake and West St. Mary all will compete.
Thursday’s action will run from 3:30 p.m. until the final matches begin at 6:30 p.m. in both the Morgan City High School Multi-Purpose Building as well as the school’s boys’ gym.
Tri-City area matches Thursday in the Multi-Purpose Building include Morgan City versus South Terrebonne at 5:30 p.m. and Covenant Christian versus Patterson at 6:30 p.m.
In the boys’ gym, Newman will face Berwick in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
On Saturday, action will begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day until the finals at 4 p.m. in the White Division and 6 p.m. in the Green Division.
In the Green Division, area action in the Morgan City High School Multi-Purpose Building includes Morgan City versus Hahnville at 8 a.m., Morgan City versus Sam Houston at 10 a.m. and New Iberia versus Morgan City at 3 p.m.
In the Morgan City High School boys’ gym, Landry-Walker will face Berwick at 9 a.m., while Berwick will meet St. Martinville at noon. Berwick will conclude pool play with a 2 p.m. contest against Sulphur.
In the White Division action at Morgan City Junior High School, Patterson will meet Central Lafourche at 9 a.m., while the Lumberjills will play Ellender at 11 a.m. and Franklin at 2 p.m.
In bracket play in the White Division, the Pool A runner up will face the Pool B winner at 3 p.m. in the boys’ gym in one semifinal, while the Pool A winner faces the Pool B runner-up in the other semifinal in the girls’ gym.
The two semifinal winners will meet at 4 p.m. for the White Division title.
At Morgan City High School, the Green Division semifinals will feature the winner of Pool A versus the runner-up of Pool B at 5 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Building, while the winner of Pool B will face the runner-up of Pool A at 5 p.m. in the boys’ gym.
The two semifinal winners will face off at 6 p.m.
