MCHS, PHS to host tourneys this weekend

In addition to Mardi Gras in the Tri-City area this weekend, there will be plenty of baseball as Morgan City and Patterson High schools will host their annual tournaments, beginning Thursday and continuing through Saturday.
Morgan City’s A&E Basin Bengal Classic will feature Franklin, Thibodaux, Berwick, H.L. Bourgeois, Central Lafourche and Morgan City.
Action will begin Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. contest between Franklin and Thibodaux, while Berwick and H.L. Bourgeois will meet on the diamond at 7 p.m.
On Friday, Central Lafourche and Franklin will play at 4:30 p.m. and Morgan City and Berwick will follow at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, action will begin with Berwick meeting Central Lafourche at 9 a.m. followed by Franklin and H.L. Bourgeois at 11:30 a.m.
At 2 p.m., Central Lafourche will meet Morgan City, while H.L. Bourgeois and Thibodaux will meet at 4:30 p.m. and Morgan City and Thibodaux at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile in Patterson, the Lumberjacks’ tournament will feature Assumption, Central Catholic, Hanson, Covenant Christian, Ellender, Patterson, Westgate and St. Martin’s Episcopal.
Action will begin Thursday when Assumption meets Central Catholic at 3:15 p.m., followed by Hanson and Covenant Christian at 5:30 p.m. and Ellender and Patterson at 7:45 p.m.
On Friday, Covenant Christian and Westgate will start things off with a 3:15 p.m. contest, while Central Catholic will meet Ellender at 5:30 p.m. and Hanson and St. Martin’s at 7:45 p.m.
On Saturday, St. Martin’s will face Central Catholic at 9 a.m. followed by Assumption and Hanson at 11:15 a.m. and St. Martin’s and Patterson at 1:30 p.m.
At 3:45 p.m., Westgate and Assumption will play, while Ellender and Covenant Christian will play at 6 p.m. and Westgate will meet Patterson at 8:15 p.m.
