MCHS soccer teams drop district openers

Staff Report

The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Lutcher, 5-0, on the road Tuesday in Morgan City’s District 6-III opener.
Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said his team had some opportunities but couldn’t convert on goals.
“We are letting one or two people beat our defense,” he said. “At this point of the season, we should be scoring and not allowing easy goals.”
Morgan City (0-9-1) will return to action Friday with a 5:30 p.m. contest against St. Michael the Archangel in Morgan City.
Morgan City boys fall
The Morgan City High School boys’ soccer team fell 2-0 to Lutcher in Morgan City’s District 7-III opener.
The game was scoreless until the last eight minutes.
“Both teams had numerous chances,” Morgan City Coach Trevor Patterson said.
In the second half, however, Patterson said his team appeared to be pushing the ball more than Lutcher.
“Our attack was good, just our second touches weren’t well with our shots,” Patterson said.
However, Lutcher broke the scoreless game in the 72nd minute after a breakdown by the Morgan City midfield.
Lutcher added another goal in the 75th minute via a corner kick.
Morgan City (2-8-1 overall, 0-1 in district) will hit the field again Friday at home when it takes on Westminster in a 4 p.m. contest.
