MCHS soccer teams fall at home to Terrebonne
The Morgan City High School Tiger soccer teams fell at home Wednesday to Terrebonne.
The Tigers fell 4-1, while the Lady Tigers fell to Terrebonne, 6-1.
In the boys’ game, Terrebonne took a 2-0 lead in the first half due to “simple errors” by the Tigers, Morgan City Coach Trevor Patterson said.
“It seems this is what has been happening to us lately,” Patterson said.
Morgan City scored a goal on a Brayan Aleman shot in the second half.
“We had a lot more chances and possession,” Patterson said of the second half. “We kept the pressure on.”
However, Terrebonne scored two more goals via Morgan City mistakes, Patterson said.
In the girls’ game, Morgan City trailed 3-1 at halftime, with the Tigers’ goal scored by Angie Sagastizado.
However, Patterson said Terrebonne “outplayed” his squad in the second half and scored three more goals for the final margin.
On Nov. 17, Morgan City’s soccer teams fell to Westminster Christian Academy on the road by identical 3-1 scores.
Despite the scores, Patterson said they did not tell the real story of how his teams played.
In the girls’ game, Morgan City and Westminster were tied at 1 at halftime, and Patterson said the Lady Tigers had numerous chances to be in the lead.
“It was one of those games were we controlled the game, had more chances and possession but could not score,” he said.
Drew Angeron scored Morgan City’s first-half goal.
In the second-half, Westminster scored two break-away goals to give them the 3-1 lead.
In the boys’ contest, Patterson said things were the same as the Tigers had the first opportunity to score but were unable to.
Westminster scored first, and Morgan City countered with a goal by Jose Aguilera for a 1-all game at halftime.
In the second half, Patterson said Westminster had “half the chances we did” but scored twice for a 3-1 final.
“In the second half, we came out strong and just like the girls, out possessed but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net,” Patterson said.
Morgan City’s boys (0-3) will compete in the Pineville Rebel Tournament in Alexandria this weekend, while the Lady Tigers won’t return to action until Monday when it faces H.L. Bourgeois on the road.
